Give Us What You’ve Got!

This Week’s Tip to Awaken Your Inner Author

This morning I listened to a podcast for authors and was struck by a comment made by one of the presenters.

She said that writing and publishing your book is a way to reach more people with your gift – whatever it may be.

So true!

It reminded me of the following perspective that author Steven Pressfield presents in The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles—a phenomenal work that I highly recommend if you have not already read it!

Creative work is not a selfish act or a bid for attention on the part of the actor. It’s a gift to the world and every being in it. Don’t cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you’ve got.”

Like the Magician in the Rider Waite tarot deck who is the consummate talented individual equipped with the principal tools and talents of the tarot – cups (ability to tap into and convey feelings), swords (ability to communicate powerfully), pentacles (ability to manage material resources well) and wands (passion and purpose that ignites yourself and others), as an aspiring author, you too have significant tools and gifts. And you can reach more people by sharing them in your book.

Writing your book is much easier if you keep this in mind. You have talents. You have tools.

Give us what you’ve got! In your book!
