About Laura

Writing Experience

I began writing at age 9 by scribbling my young, heartfelt secrets in a little brown diary with a brass key. Since then I have journaled regularly as a creative, emotional, and therapeutic outlet and as a way to access and strengthen my intuition.

In college and graduate school, I churned out myriad and sometimes excruciatingly difficult papers. Despite the seeming “torture,” my professors’ positive feedback encouraged me to pursue writing as a major component of my future vocation.

During most of my 38-year professional career in Washington DC, (largely spent working for the Federal government), I produced countless fact-finding studies and in-depth reports on international trade and industry issues for Congressional and Executive Branch policymakers.

While spending decades writing clear, concise, and “left-brain” reports and studies in my professional career, in my free time I studied “right-brain “ancient and modern body-mind-spirit practices and techniques as an avocation. I professionally trained and became certified in hypnosis (National Guild of Hypnotherapists), intuitive coaching (with best-selling authors Sonia Choquette, Sue Frederick, and Lee Milteer), Transcendental meditation, and tarot.

From 2008 to 2020, I wrote numerous blog posts on yoga based on my personal practice since age 15 and published Yoga at Home: Gain, Energy, Flexibility, and Serenity in 20 to 30 Minutes a Day, an introductory yoga book.

The book’s second edition, Gentle Yoga after 50: Get Fit, Flexible, and Feel Fantastic! was released in early 2023.

After completing my Federal career at the end of 2020, I trained and became a certified professional ghostwriter and book coach. In mid-2021, I moved to Charleston, SC, and launched Intuitive Advising and Writing, LLC.

I offer book coaching and ghostwriting services with a uniquely personal, holistic, and intuitive approach that incorporates my expertise and experience in intuitive training, hypnosis, meditation, tarot, and yoga.

Specialty-Mental & Physical Health, Fitness, Nutrition, Self-Improvement, & Spirituality

I help coaches, licensed professionals, and entrepreneurs with expertise in the areas listed above to become first-time or beyond authors. They can do this either through my 12-week book coaching program or by investing in my book coaching and ghostwriting services.

If you are an expert in health and wellness, fitness, self-improvement, or spirituality, you have a distinct advantage in creating a compelling, client-attracting book.

Why?

Because you help clients transform a significant, emotion-laden area of their lives. You steer them away from blockages to breakthroughs, confusion to clarity, desperation to determination, fatigue to fulfillment, and pain to power. Furthermore, your experience, unique approach to your expertise, case studies, and stories create the foundation of material for your book.

I help clients like you to organize and convert your existing treasure trove of blog posts, articles, videos, speeches, case studies, and so forth, into compelling book content.

During our work together, I help you create an inspiring book based on your expertise and experiences, even if you think you lack the time, talent, or know-how to become an author.

Drawing on my left and right-brained professional experience and training, I intuitively and holistically advise clients like you on how to communicate your core message clearly, concisely, and creatively from your heart to engage your ideal readers. You gain access to various ancient and modern tools and techniques to help you create your book.

Your book will reflect and communicate your unique approach, style, and voice. And, especially important, it will distinguish and elevate you above your competition and peers. Your book will open the door for greater visibility in your field, help you garner more speaking opportunities, and attract new clients. Completing your book offers an additional bonus- it will increase your clarity and boost your self-confidence.

Personal Info

After being born in Philadelphia, PA, I lived in Mexico City, Mexico during the first few years of my life. (I still have some vivid memories from ages three and four of the floating gardens and Chapultepec Park). I spent my formative years growing up in a suburb right outside Philadelphia, PA. After attending and graduating from college near Boston, I moved to Washington, DC where I lived for 44 years as a graduate student, professional writer-researcher-analyst-speaker, and mother of two children (Francesca -33 and Andres Jr. -26).

Since moving to Charleston, SC, writing has become more fun and rewarding. I revel in the area’s beautiful surroundings – large palm trees, splendid beaches, historical downtown buildings and venues, myriad restaurants with delectable food, and the absence of snow and ice!

An avid music lover and bibliophile with eclectic tastes, when I am not in a coaching session or working on a writing project, you’ll often find me listening to music with my speakers cranked up or my nose in a book.

The music of Beethoven, Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Jesse Cook, Lost Frequencies, Mozart, Santana, and dozens more animate my spirit. I also love attending live concerts and dancing to disco and 80s music (dating myself I know…).

My favorite books—Jane Eyre, The Artist’s Way, How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci, and A Christmas Carol to name just a few—touch my heart and inspire me to live in a high vibration.

Ace of Base’s uplifting song, “Beautiful Life” and books in my home such as Journey to the Heart and Songs of God capture and remind me of the wonder of life and connect me to the Divine.
